The Indian road network started expanding after the improvement avenue map was formulated at the Indian road Congress session in Nagpur in 1956, known as the ‘Nagpur Plan’.
The freeway structure and strategically essential roads have been described as “National highway” and have been made the responsibility of the Central authorities. Ministry of surface transport started appointing consultants for managing the multiplied quantity of labor and assumed the function of nodal business enterprise.
